Kobie Marketing currently has an opening in our IT Division for a Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will provide 1st level deskside support for 40+ office and remote users, their applications, PCs, Macs, printers and telephones. This position is also responsible for enterprise level systems administration, including: maintenance, backups, patch management, support, troubleshooting, installation, and break/fix. Areas of responsibility include office, production, UAT, QA and development server environments. Work involves the advanced use of software and/or hardware tools to provide on-going services, maintenance, and monitoring. Work includes optimizing systems performance, troubleshooting systems problems, and analyzing usage and systems load issues of a highly technical nature. Work may include creation, installation, and modification of software and hardware, testing, and documentation on a variety of platforms and may have final technical decision responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for 24x7 on-call problem resolution for desktop users, customers and vendors in areas of system expertise and authority to escalate as necessary
• Systems Administrator is required to obtain/maintain a cellular phone with Text Messaging capabilities for alerts
• Work as required to facilitate repairs and maintain Company Continuity of Business Plan during emergencies
• Manage Service/Problem tickets (JIRA) promptly and within established SLAs
• Own and modify as appropriate system configuration settings
• Set best practices and maintenance regime for assigned systems based on requirements of the Manager of IT Operations, software/vendor recommendations, experience, and business needs
• Ensures the efficient operation of the network infrastructure. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links
• Ensures the efficient operation of the company servers. This includes designing, installing, administering, supporting, and optimizing company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications
• Management of the Microsoft Active Directory schema and related network security practices. This includes establishing and maintaining network users, user environment, Group Policies, directories, and security
• Manage and maintain Exchange server and email archives
• Maintain configuration and automation required for building production, QA and development environments. Ensure and maintain quality of non-production environments
• Ensure proper backup coverage and monitor backup quality with documented test restorations
• Establish, maintain and monitor IT systems 24x7x365
• Enforce/apply company change control and IT security policies
• Act as a consultant to smaller IT projects on hardware and system configuration
• Learn and apply new systems and system administration techniques and tasks
• Ensure that the staff is trained for systems and software maintained
• Troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis of complex end user and server problems
Job Requirements:
• Graduation from a two year technical school with a degree in electronics, networking, a closely related degree or equivalent experience
• Preferred Licenses: CompTIA A+ Certification - Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) - Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• Thorough understanding of Microsoft products/systems and their administration
• Microsoft Exchange 2007 administration
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008 experience a plus
• Strong experience with VMWare and virtualized environments required
• Thorough understanding of LAN configuration and administration
• Thorough understanding of the Internet and its key configuration components (e.g. DNS, email, http, ftp, IP addressing, Subnetting)
• Ability to interact well with employees, vendors and customers
• Hands on experience with building, maintaining, troubleshooting and break/fix of Servers, PCs and LANs
• Network cabling and termination/testing
• Ability to research and evaluate problems or technologies outside current knowledge or experience
• Understanding of secure computing environments and the ability to maintain such
• Batch file and/or scripting skills
• Firewall / VPN experience
• Sterling Commerce NDM (Connect Direct) experience a plus
• SolarWinds ipMonitor experience a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a high technical skill level
