Kobie Marketing Donates 46,334 Pounds of Food to St. Petersburg Free Clinic
Donations Will Benefit Local Food Bank Serving Over 40,000 Residents in Need Per Month
St. Petersburg, FL (December 22, 2014) – Kobie Marketing’s annual food drive for St. Petersburg Free Clinic (SPFC) Food Bank drew enormous support from the community and exceeded donation goals. Kobie is pleased to announce their staff, clients and partners collectively raised 46,334 pounds of food valued at almost $81,000.
“The 46,334 pounds will make a huge difference in our community and will help keep the food bank stocked with food until Spring, a time when historically the Food Bank is close to empty,” said Ken Murphy, Director of St. Petersburg Free Clinic Food Bank.
SPFC Food Bank is one of eight programs offered by the clinic, providing food to approximately 40,000 people each month and distributing food to more than 60 partner agencies around Saint Petersburg. Kobie has supported the food bank since 2008.
The food drive began in October, with Kobie’s staff splitting into teams and competing to raise the most money and food. Various fundraisers were held in the Kobie office, such as catered lunches, bake sales, and massages from a licensed masseuse. The fundraising culminated with a “Stomp Out Starving” event held at Ferg’s Sports Bar and Grill which featured a silent auction, carnival booths, and live music.
“I’m so proud of the Kobie team and our supporters for far surpassing our donation goal this year,” said Michael Hemsey, President of Kobie Marketing. “46,334 pounds more than doubled last year’s donation of 21,000 pounds and required a semi-truck for delivery to the Food Bank. As our food drive grows each year, we’re not only able to donate food but also draw more attention to important work done by SPFC and increase awareness about hunger in our community.”
